A workers compensation seminar that I attended a couple weeks ago had a brief presentation from our state Director of Workers Compensation, Director Tauriello. A couple of interesting and telling key indicators were presented from the Director. He stated that NCCI, The National Council on Compensation Insurance, has recently completed an analysis and found that Colorado is right in the middle of the country in benefits paid to injured workers. Director Tauriello said he was pleased with this since it shows that we are not over-paying or under-paying. Director Tauriello then referenced a different study that shows Colorado as the 5th lowest state in premium rates charged. Again this pleased the Director showing Colorado as a state that provides well for its injured workers and helps keep companies in business by reducing the insurance premium burdens.
